Back              King British Pond treatments

King British pond water treatments have been scientifically developed over three decades of professional fish keeping.

A comprehensive range of technically excellent formulations are available for managing both water quality and fish health.

WATER TREATMENTS
Safe Water
King British Safe Water biologically neutralises organic waste produced by fish. Poor water quality in ponds is a major cause of stress in fish & can be fatal.

• Fish release ammonia through the gills & by going to the toilet in the water in which they live. Uneaten food & plant debris also decomposes, releasing ammonia, which is toxic to fish. Ammonia may be converted to nitrite, which is also toxic and may kill fish if left untreated.

• Safe Water oxidises ammonia & nitrite into nitrate - a relatively harmless substance that can be absorbed by plants as foods & is easily removed by regular partial water changes.

For use with Tropical, Coldwater & Marine fish

When? To use Safe Water

• When starting a new aquarium

• Use once a week & also when carrying out partial water changes

• To boost filtration after the use of treatments & medicines

Safe Guard
King British Safe Guard makes tap water safe for fish. Safe Guard quickly and effectively neutralises chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals in tap water, preventing distress and gill irritation in fish.

• Chlorine and chloramines are powerful chemicals added to drinking water to kill bacteria to make tap water safe for human consumption. Left untreated, these chemicals can strip the protective mucus coating off fish making them susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections.

• Safe Guard removes the excess ammonia created from the reaction with chloramines.

• Safe Guard also coats the fish with a natural protective barrier of aloe vera. Fish can lose their protective slime through handling, fighting, shipping and other forms of stress.

For use with Tropical & Coldwater fish

When? To use Safe Guard

• When starting a new pond or carrying out regular water changes

• Whenever the pond is topped up with tap water

• When new fish are introduced to a tank to soothe and calm them during their acclimatisation

Green Algae Control
King British Green Algae Control clears most forms of green algae including filaments (fine strands) and slime.

When algae takes hold in a pond (which it will do if excess light and a surplus of nutrients are present) it becomes very harmful to fish because it severely depletes oxygen supply in darkend hours which kills fish. It also restricts the growth of oxygenating plants disturbing the natural balance of ponds. Green Algae Control clears most forms of green algae including surface algae and algae that grows as strands off the sides and bottom of ponds, on filters, pumps etc, and slime without harming fish or plants.

When? to use Green Algae Control

• If a green haze is visible on the surface of the pond

• Green fur growth or slime can be seen on plant leaves, rocks & ornaments

Green Water Control
King British Green Water Control clears green water.

Suspended green algae is present in all natural aquatic environments and in small quantites it is beneficial. When excess nutrients and light are available, algae in ponds can become thick, unsightly and out of control. It may also be harmful to fish because it can clog the filter, foul the water, irritate fish’s gills, remove oxygen from the water at night and cause pH fluctuations.

Green Water Control works by causing the suspended algae cells to “clump together” and sink to the bottom of the pond. These should then be removed using a net or siphon.

When? to use Green Water Control

• If green algae appears on the pond lining

• If pond water appears green

• If filter appears to be clogging with algae

Aquatic Plant Food
King British Aquatic Plant Food essential nutrients to encourage healthy plant growth.

A specially developed formula which includes essential nutrients and slow release trace elements required by aquatic plants to encourage healthy growth. Aquatic Plant Food is particularly beneficial for fine leafed oxygenating plants.

Also ideal for marginal plants and for encouraging the growth of colourful flowering lilies. Aquatic and marginal plants not only add to the beauty of your pond, they also reduce troublesome algae growth by absorbing nutrients from the water.

The formulation does not include nitrate and phosphate that would otherwise encourage unwanted algae growth.

When? to use Aquatic Plant Food

• Use at two weekly intervals during the growing season from March to October

Fin Rot & Fungus Control is a fast acting treatment for fish with fin rot & fungal infections. It promotes rapid healing of damaged fins, stimulates new growth & can also be used to treat bruised mouths & damaged body tissue where lifting scales can leave fish exposed to infection.

When? to use Fin Rot & Fungus Control

• When fins appear torn & tatty, sometimes having a white edge

• When cotton wool like growths are visible on body & fins

White Spot Control
King British White Spot Control is a fast acting cure for fish with external parasites including white spot (ich), trichodina and costia.

White spot is one of the most common parasitic problems affecting pond fish. White spot, which appear as small pinhead sized white spots on the body & fins, multiply rapidly & if left untreated fish quickly become sluggish, respiration is impaired, fins can disintegrate & fish ultimately die.

When? to use White Spot Control

• If fish appear to have small pinhead sized white spots on their body & fins

• When fish flick or rub themselves against objects

• If new fish are introduced to a pond as a preventative treatment against white spot & parasites

White Spot Control 500ml

£7.99

White Spot Control 1000ml

Ulcer & Open Wound Control
King British Ulcer & Open Wound Control protects damaged body tissues from bacterial infection and also prevents external ulcers from spreading.

Open wounds, ulcers, abrasions and inflammation of the delicate tissues of fish can leave them exposed to bacterial and fungal infections. Red body spots or redness at the base of fins are indications of inflammation. External ulcers and sores are easily attacked by bacteria and fungus in ponds. Ulcer & Open Wound Treatment controls the harmful bacteria that target wounds on fish, and aids the regeneration of damaged tissue.

When? to use Ulcer & Open Wound Control

• If red body spots or redness at the base of fins appear

• If visible open wounds appear
